I see Premier tax software for 2018 costs $44.99. How many Federal tax returns can be filed for that price? Does it include the State?

If you are looking at the Desktop CD/Download program that you install on your computer you can do unlimited Federal returns and Efile 5 for free.  Deluxe and above include one free state program download to prepare unlimited returns for the same state.  Then each state return is 19.99 to efile (goes up to 24.99 later). Or you can print and mail state for free. If you need to also file a state return for a different state it is 39.99 to buy an additional state program.

Some other Desktop features include You can see and enter directly into the actual forms.
There is a What-If worksheet.  And All the Desktop versions have the same forms so you can use a lower version.  You just get more help in the higher versions.

Online Software only....I see it for 44.99 on the Online selection page.....cookie from Fidelity for mine.

With Online software......only one tax return/UserID account, along with any states attached to it (5 max states).

Each state is another $40/ea right now...…$45 usually sometime in March.
