I searched where to enter it.. the help response was to search for "long-term care" and click the Jump To link to go to the form - I do not see any Jump To link anywhere!

This is the search and the results.

Well that certainly what the help response told me I should expect, but that's not what I am seeing.

Here is what I get when I search.. I paged through all 241 results and nowhere did I see the jump link as you have shown..

That is an unexpected result for sure.

If you are trying to enter long term care insurance cost, then that is entered as part of your medical expenses.  You can get to the medical expense section by going to Federal > Deductions and Credits > Medical > Medical Expenses.

If you are trying to enter long term care expenses that were incurred in order to reconcile a Form 1099-LTC, then that section can be found by going to Federal > Wages and Income > Less Common Income > Miscellaneous Income 1099-A, 1099-C > Long-term care account distributions (Form 1099-LTC)

Maybe you are using the installed software whereas I am using the browser version in a chromebook and the two are completely different?  Not only can I not find anywhere to jump to the right form, I don't have any of the Federal > Wages and Income > Less Common Income > Miscellaneous Income 1099-A, 1099-C > Long-term care account distributions (Form 1099-LTC). menu items you reference.

In fact I find it very annoying that the whole interface assumes I am an idiot and expects me to follow through a long list of 2nd grade questions with no option or opportunity to get directly to what I am looking for, in this case a place to account for the 1099-LTC form I received.  And none of the interview process ever even asks if I received any long term care expense reimbursements from ltc insurance!

@AnnetteB6 has given you good instructions.  I've accessed this posting area in both the Online and the Desktop version, and it gets me to the correct entry platform.

Go to:

  1. Federal
  2. Wages and Income
  3. Scroll to the bottom for Less Common Income
  4. Select Miscellaneous Income 1099-A, 1099-C from the drop-down menu.
  5. Now select Long-term care account distributions (Form 1099-LTC) from the drop-down menu.
  6. Please follow the interview and post the 1099-LTC.
