I received a check from my paid up additional insurance in 2022. Do I have to claim this on my federal income tax?

I will page another champ,  @Mike9241, but you should receive a tax reporting statement if you need to claim the payment (in the form of a 1099-R).

I agree with @Anonymous_  if it's taxable you will get a tax form supposedly by 1/31.  but you may prefer to contact the company to verify.
