If the social security disability is your only income and you are not married filing jointly, you do not need to file a tax return. If you are filing a joint return and your spouse has other income, you must include your social security disability on the tax return.  If you are married filing separately and lived in the same household as your spouse at any time during the year, you must file a tax return because some of your social security may be taxable.
