I quit my self employed business in 2016. Wife and I are both retired. How do I get rid of self employed information brought foreword from 2016 return?

I quit my self employed business in 2016. Wife and I are both retired. How do I get rid of self employed information brought foreword from 2016 return?

Did you file the 2016 Schedule C as a final return? If so, then you can delete the Schedule C off your 2017 return. If not, you should file a Schedule C return for 2017 reporting no income or expenses but marking it as a final return to inform the IRS so they do not look for it on your return.

Did you file the 2016 Schedule C as a final return? If so, then you can delete the Schedule C off your 2017 return. If not, you should file a Schedule C return for 2017 reporting no income or expenses but marking it as a final return to inform the IRS so they do not look for it on your return.
