I purchased the Deluxe that includes a state. Why is it charging me for a state?

If you purchased the 2021 TurboTax Desktop software that includes one free state program download, there is a state e-file charge of $20. This fee can be avoided by printing and mailing the state income tax return.

And if you bought Deluxe at a store or online somewhere else Deluxe comes 2 ways. Deluxe with a free state program download and Deluxe without state for states that don't have an income tax.

Since when does TurboTax charge you for state taxes? And for retirement it forces you to get deluxe. So you’re paying for deluxe and state rather than it being included.
