I purchased solar system outright in 2025, paid $13,500. Turbo Tax says can't get the $4,065 credit this year but it carries over to 2026. Why no credit this year?

First, make sure you have completed your entire return, including all of your income. The energy credit is non-refundable, so if you don't have enough income tax being computed, the credit could be limited. If you have completed your return, you need to have enough regular tax liability to absorb the credit (self-employment tax will not be reduced by the credit.)
