UPDATED FOR TAX YEAR 2019

You should contact your employer for reimbursement.  Unfortunately, job-related expenses for most employees are no longer deductible for tax years 2018-2025.  The only employees that can deduct expenses now are:

  • Armed Forces reservists
  • Qualified performing artists
  • Fee-basis state or local government officials
  • Employees with impairment-related work expenses

You should still enter the expenses on your federal return—they will flow to your state return if they are deductible there.  Please see the following FAQ for more information:  Can employees deduct any job-related expenses?
