Yes, in most cases you can finalize your return in the TurboTax app. While the app is a powerful tool to utilize for preparing and completing your return it can get frustrating at times if your return is complicated. The app will handle all the situations the software will but sometimes knowing how to navigate the app if you have not previously used it will be trying to the first-time user.
At first all will be similar to the computer version. The main difference is obviously the screen size is much smaller but also to edit an item you need to look for the 3 dots at the top right of each individual item such as a W-2 or 1099. That is where you would click to edit as opposed to seeing all of your items on the computer screen.
A basic screenshot of the app is below:
Differences between download and mobile app
The CD/download can only be used on a full PC or Mac, not on any sort of mobile device. You install that software to your own hard drive. It is not in the "cloud" or accessible anyplace else--only on your own computer.
Are you using the CD/download?
We see people get confused and they keep logging in to online software which will require them to pay at the end. You need to use the desktop software. One way to tell if you are using the right software---your tool bar. Online software has the toolbar in a black vertical column on the left side of the screen. Desktop software has the tools up on the top of your TT screen.
If you purchased the CD/download with a license code, and you are using online, you are using the wrong program. You need to switch to the desktop software to get what you paid for. You have to download it, update it and open it up from your own hard drive to use it.
