I printed off my 2017 tax return and it included four payment vouchers to pre-pay taxes. Why were these included?

Sometimes, the IRS assumes that you may owe the next year (2018) due to the fact that you had a balance due the current year (2017) when filing your taxes. The payment vouchers are for any estimated tax you voluntarily choose to pay during the year and are automatically printed out with your return.
