I paid estimated taxes quarterly in 2016. 1. How will the IRS notify me of that total amount? 2. How will Turbo Tax 2016 prompt me to enter it?

The IRS will not notify you of the estimated taxes you paid.  You can use your bank statements for the amounts that you paid either by check or direct debit with the payee being either the IRS or US Treasury.

To enter estimated taxes paid (Federal, State, Local) - (See screenshot)

• Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
• Click on Deductions and Credits
• Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
• Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
• On Estimates, click on the start or update button

Or enter estimates paid in the Search box located in the upper right of the online program screen.  Click on Jump to estimates paid
