I paid back $500 for unemployment income in 2021 for an apparent overpayment made to me in 2020. Is there somewhere I need to list that?

Yes, if you go to Income>>click show more next to Unemployment>>Click Start next to Unemployment and Family Leave, you will find a series of questions about Unemployment.  One question will ask if you paid back any unemployment in 2021, answer yes to that question.  You will then be able to enter the amount you repaid in 2021 for 2020.

you will get no benefit.  repayments are reported on schedule A line 16 (or can be taken as a tax credit) but only if the amount of repayment is more than $3,000
