It depends on what type of income you have, your age, and whether you are being claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return.  

 

You can start your TurboTax tax return for free and enter your information.  Going through the questions needed to complete the tax return will let you know if you are required to file.  Remember, being required to file a return does not necessarily mean you are required to pay taxes.

Besides possibly being a dependent....or not perhaps affecting whether you are required or file or not.

 

It depends on whether the $$ you "made" are on a W-2?

......or is 1099-NEC or cash income as a Self-Employed person  (Gig job....delivery driver, Lyft, etc. That is not reported to you by an employer on a W-2).  IF this type of income, if net gain is high enough, then you'd owe SS and Medicare taxes on it even if you don't have to pay any "Income taxes".
