I needed to file an extension since one of my previous employers has not given me my w2 yet. i have no money to pay for the extension. what do i do?

Unfortunately, unless you live in Maine or Massachusetts,it is too late to file a federal extension.

If you do live in one of these states and can still file an extension, you will be happy to know there is no cost to file an extension in TurboTax.
