Were you notified by the IRS about the disallowance of the credit?
If you received a letter from the IRS, follow the instructions in that letter.
What credit was disallowed? Sometimes when the IRS reduces your refund or changes a credit resulting in tax due, you just need to pay the tax due as instructed on the letter you send. You may not need to amend the tax return. If they made a correction for the recovery rebate credit or the child tax credit---which were very common mistakes that the IRS corrected---you do not need to amend.
