I need to add a 1099-DIV for my child’s custodial account, but the child is not listed in the “this 1099-div belongs to…” drop down. How do I properly assign it?

To enter a child's unearned income on your tax return -

Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home &  Business)

Click on Wages & Income (Personal Income using Home & Business)

Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)

Scroll down to Less Common Income

On Child's Income (Under Age 24), click the start button

You need to go to the 'child's income' section.  Just type 'child's income' into the search box on the top right and then click the 'jump to' button that appears.

You'll enter it there.  Keep in mind that if your child's income is higher than $14,600 they have to file their own return.
