I need help determining the policy allocation for the Marketplace. I really need to get my taxes filed and this is my BIG stumbling block.

Shared policy allocation kicks in if a Marketplace insurance plan is shared across tax returns (for example, two kids and one spouse on one return, other spouse on the other return, all 4 on the insurance plan). It allows splitting the benefit appropriately among all the parties.

If this situation applies to you, we can help, but due to the complexity of the situation and the personal information involved it would be better to speak with one of our tax professionals over the phone.

If you would like to try to do this on your own and just need some basic instructions, please take a look at "Table 3. Shared Policy Allocation - Line 9" on page 10 of Instructions for Form 8962 Premium Tax Credit (PTC). Form 8962 is what the TurboTax program will use to determine your shared policy allocation.

If y ou don't feel like you can work your way through the interview with those instructions, request support through the Contact Us page (or the Contact icon at the top right of your TurboTax program).
