If you can not locate your 2016 tax return or don't want to pay for PLUS (if you're using the Free Edition) then, you can get a copy of your tax transcript for free from the IRS website to get your prior year AGI number. 

Order your transcript, Click on this link- IRS Get Transcript, or by calling them toll-free at 1-800-908-9946. Transcripts are available for the current and past three tax years.
