I made no income last year, do I need to file federal taxes? And if the answer is no, what will happen if I get audited?

If you had less income than $10,400 Single or $20,700 Married, you do not need to file an income tax return.

If you are audited, that will be your response. If you have a bank account, those records would prove your lack of income.
