I made mistakes on my taxes and I didn't mail out my printed forms and tax return, could I still amend?

So I paid Turbo, and printed out the forms, since it wouldn't let me e-file. I was looking it over and saw there were mistakes. I went back onto Turbo and clicked on "amending" and fixing the mistakes until the window popped up, saying that I can't amend right now and have to wait 1040X form on 3/26/2022... Now my question is could I still amend when the 1040X form is ready, although I didn't mail out my printed forms and tax return to IRS? I really don't want to be audit over mistakes if I do mail out.

You do not amend a tax return that was never filed.  You make your changes and then file the tax return.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state. 

This will take you back to the 2021 online tax return.  Click on Cancel Amend on the left side of the online program screen if shown.

Then go back to the 2021 tax return and make the necessary changes before filing.  Print the tax return for mailing.

Thank you so much. I couldn't figure out on what was going wrong.  Turbotax and taxes in general could be confusing sometimes.
