Some people have trouble with the extension payment not reducing the tax due or showing up right on the 1040.

Also if you didn't efile by yesterday Oct 15, 2019 you can not efile now. You will have to print and mail it. You might even have to finish using the Desktop program on your computer. Does it let you log back into your return?
Thanks VolvoGirl! I was able to go in today and complete the return. I didn’t enter the payment information cuz I didn’t know where to do it. When it asked me how I want to pay I realized something was wrong. I didn’t select anything but was able to go ahead and file my state taxes. I’m not sure what to do next. I didn’t get the normal confirmation email but I did for the state. I messed up!
Huh? You can not efile federal or state today. Efiling closed yesterday Oct 15. You have to print and mail returns now. And you never can efile state unless federal was first efiled and accepted.
Did you get the extension payment entered?
To enter the amount you paid with an extension (including state extension) go to
Federal Taxes (or Personal for desktop H&B version)
Deductions and Credits
Then scroll way down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
Other Income Taxes - Click the Start or Update button
Next page second section Payments with Extension
Either Visit All or Click Start or Update by the extension you paid
Pay attention to which year you are entering for a State Extension payment. A prior year state extension payment is also deductible on the federal return so be sure to enter it here.
