Or READ the FASFA application ... it tells you exactly where on your return you can find the answer it is looking for... it is an "open book" test so cheat and look at the form 1040 freely.  

Personally I believe the child should have to fill out the FASFA form themselves ... if they are smart enough to go to college they are smart enough to read the application form.  😉
