I'm trying to file widower status and it keeps telling me that it has not been long enough. My spouse has been deceased seven years. Can you assist me. Please

The Qualifying Widower filing status is only for the 2 tax years after the year of death and ONLY if you have a qualifying child.  It is not the same thing as a marital status which is what is asked first in the program.  Then your filing status is determined by the dependents on the return.
