I"m on this question: Did You Make Any Money Outside the United States? I sell crocheted items online and I shipped a few outside the country, do I include that here?

I'm a self employed small business and I've already included the amount in my total sales.

Actually, no.  You don't need to indicate that you made money outside of the United States, if this is your only (potentially) foreign activity.  You can (and should) include any crocheted items that you sold and shipped to another country in your domestic sales total, along with all of your other sales revenue.

That's actually not what this question ("Did You Make Any Money Outside the United States?") is really attempting to ask.  Instead, it means to ask if you physically worked outside of the United States, or if you owned any part of a business located overseas, or if you owned any foreign financial assets that were kept at an overseas institution.  It is not meant to capture information like selling items over the internet (from within the United States) and shipping to foreign addresses; nor is it meant to capture income from shares in foreign publicly-traded stock that are held in a US-based bank or brokerage account.  However, that said, we can certainly appreciate the natural confusion that this question creates.

But for purposes of accurate tax reporting, we can assure you that the activity you describe in your question absolutely does not mean that you "made money" outside of the United States, under either the IRS definition or within the meaning of the TurboTax question.

If you've reported the relevant sales already (as indicated) elsewhere, then you've handled this correctly.

Thank you for asking this question.
