I'm on a payment plan for 2012-2015. I owe 200 for 2018. Can I pay off just 2018 or does anything I pay just go right to the total balance I owe?

Id like to pay off 2018 so I don't owe that year, but if I send in money to pay off that year and it just goes to the total balance I owe instead of paying off 2018, I would like to know ahead of time.

Yes, you can absolutely do this. Just be sure to write 2018 Form 1040 on the check and send along with the payment voucher.
