I’m at the part where I put in my address and the recommended address they give me to use does not include my apartment number. Should I not use the recommended address?

The recommended address I assume is the USPS recommended address. However, the USPS recommended address is only for the street address and won't include your apartment number.

It is OK to use the recommended street address and then add your apartment number in any case.

There are 2 options given.  You can use the standardized address “to avoid delays in processing” or you can use the one you entered manually, which includes the apt number.  There’s no option to use the recommended address and then enter your apt number.  If I had to choose one without any guidance here, I would choose the manual one, since accepting processing delays is preferable to never receiving something at all.  What I don’t understand is why an apt number isn’t part of a standardized address for a building with over 200 apts.

(I can’t believe I’ve only made it as far as “enter your name and address” and already have a problem.  This doesn’t bode well for doing my taxes this year.)

Yes, if the recommended address doesn't include your apartment number, then definitely use the correct address that you entered, with the apartment number.

I've encountered this personally, so check the recommended address to see if there's another line that lists the apartment number (I've had that happen too).

Don't worry, keep going with your return, but be sure to carefully read the interview screens!  Sometimes they can be confusing, or we skip through them, 'thinking' we know what they're saying, only to have an error come up later.
