I'm 20 and have been filing my taxes by myself for the past 2 years. I still live with my parents but I pay for everything I have. Am I a dependent of my parents?

If you age 19 or older, were not a full time student in 2017 and your gross income is $4,050 or more, then no one can claim you as a dependent.

Are you a full time student?  If not, did you have gross income in 2017 of $4,050 or more?

I'm a part time student , and Yes I worked full time so I earned a lot more than $4,050.

No, you are not a dependent of your parents. Living with them does not, alone, make you their dependent. Being a dependent is usually based on support, but there are other rules to meet.

There are two types of dependents, "Qualifying Children"(QC) and standard ("Qualifying Relative" in IRS parlance even though they don't have to actually be related). There is no income limit for a QC but there is an age limit, a relationship test and residence test. Only a QC qualifies a taxpayer for the Earned Income Credit. They are interrelated but the rules are different for each.

You cannot be a QC because you are over 18 AND are not a full time student. You cannot be a standard dependent because your income is over $4050.
