file as single and don't check you can be claimed as a dependent.  based on your statement mom did not support you which is a requirement for her to claim yo either as either a qualifying child or qualifying relative  will have to paper file becuase mom claimed you.   at some point the IRS will send you and mom a letter asking to amend. you should not.  if mom doesn't. the IRS sends a seconfd letter asking for proof you are  properly claimed. the letter will probaly contain info that can be submitted.   Keep good proof that you supported yourself.

Well,  I moved in with my best friends family the end of 2018 and lived here every since because my mom kicked me out so she could be with her new boyfriend. She has really never supported me and I've always pretty much been on my own but this is the first year I have actually had a job to report for tax purposes. My friends aunt does taxes and she said my mom has filed a fraudulent return. And the IRS may reject my return, due to her claiming me already. If this happens, will that send instructions then? And since she also just got her extra on the stimulus, I won't be able to get that either will I? Thank you so much for your help.
