Yes you can file a Joint return for the year he died. Enter all his income as usual.
I have done that and it is still rejecting the requested 2018 AGI of my husband. We filed married filing jointly every year so there is only one AGI and I am entering it correctly. Is there a way to split the AGI?
While the IRS says you can file electronically after the death of a spouse, very often you have to file by mail.
I am sorry for your loss.
There is no way to split the AGI. Unfortunately, you will have to file by mail this year. In future years you will be able to e-file electronically.
From your remarks, you seem to be doing everything correctly. You are filing Married Filing Jointly and adding in all of your husband's income. I would just continue on and choose File By Mail in the File section of TurboTax.
Thank you so much for your help. I have printed everything and mailed my return already. Thank you and thanks for your kind words.
