Why doesn't your installation instructions work?

I've tried following the instructions from the how to install with Windoes 10 guidelines but when I browse to the CD drive it doesn't read the TurboTax CD.  I have not had this issue in prior years. Your recommended solutions isn't working What other recommendations do you have to lkoad the program

Why doesn't your installation instructions work?

I'll tell you how to get a download of the installation file below.

I assume that your CD drive works OK for other CDs and that the CD was not upside down in the drive (yes, it happens.)

Were these the installation steps you were following?   

You must install using Administrator privilege.
First manually disconnect your computer from the Internet so you can safely temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall software programs.
Close any other open programs.
If installing from a downloaded installation file, then double-click the file to start the install process, and skip the CD steps.
If installing from a CD, insert the CD and the installation should launch.  If it doesn't start installing automatically, then here's how to launch it:

      Hold down the Windows+R keys to open the Run window.
      Click Browse, and then navigate to the TurboTax CD on your CD/DVD/RW drive (usually Drive D).
      Double-click the setup.exe file.
      Click OK to launch the installer.

After installing, be sure to re-enable your antivirus and firewall programs before connecting  your computer back up to the Internet.
Reboot (restart) your computer.
Launch TurboTax and run the program updater.

So when you go to File Explorer, it can't even display a list of files on the CD?  i.e., it can even read the file directory on the CD?

If not, we can tell you how to get a downloaded installation file instead of using the CD.   Do you happen to be an Advantage member with an annual subscription?  If so, there is already a complimentary download in your Advantage account at this link:

Where the form asks what product you are using, be sure in the dropdown menu to indicate "CD/download" and the proper operating system, then indicate which Edition.

I tried following those installation instructions, essentially the same as before I wrote on Tuesday.  It still didn't work.  I tried running a music CD in the drive, no problems.  I located my TurboTax 2016 CD put it in the drive and my computer immediately recognized the CD.  Yet when I try to install the turbotax 2018 the computer doesn't even recognize the CD.  I think the issue is with the CD.
