I live with people who aren't biologically related to me and I don't pay Bill's besides my phone bill. So does that mean I support myself?

I'm not a full time student I just work part time

if your part-time income exceeds $4200 for the year then you will not qualify as a dependent.  So you would select that you cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return.  If that is not true then they may be able to claim you as a dependent and you would select that someone else can claim you.

For review here are the rules for claiming a dependent.

You can be claimed if they paid for more than half of your basic living costs and:

  • You lived in their home for the entire year (all 12 months).
  • You made less than $4,200 (not including Social Security or welfare).
  • You were single. There's a small exception if you were married (if you file jointly only to get a refund of taxes paid, or, if you file separately, neither you nor your spouse has any tax liability).
  • You’re a U.S. citizen, U.S. resident alien, U.S. national, or a resident of Canada or Mexico.
