I live outside the US so I cannot call the help line. If I had my 2017 return refiled how do I get it the IRS to accept my AGI from that year when I try to file for 2018?

You should use the AGI from the prior year's originally filed and accepted return.

If the IRS will not accept your 2017 original AGI, then you will need to mail your return to the IRS.  You do not need your AGI for a mailed return.
