I live in Texas. I was married to another woman in Vermont in 2006. We haven't lived together since 2007. Can I file as single as a Texan?

Not unless you have a divorce decree or a court ordered separation with maintenance decree. If married your choices are Married Filing Separately, Marries Filing Jointly of both spouses agree, or Head of Household if you have child dependent that lives with you.
