When you e-file your return, it will ask how you want to pay taxes owed.  Enter your banking information for a direct debit.

OR:

For Federal taxes owed you can pay on the IRS website:

https://www.irs.gov/payments

If you owe State taxes, you can pay online on your State's website.

If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, (which has the address printed on it, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.

You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment.  For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.

Once you have completed your taxes in TurboTax it will show you if you owe taxes or if you are getting a refund.  If you owe taxes you can have the amount taken directly from your bank account via electronic withdrawal.

There are several different ways to pay your tax bill in TurboTax.

  1. Direct debit (free)
  2. Credit or debit card (convenience fee)
  3. Check or money order (free except for postage)
  4. IRS Installment Agreement (this may be free or have a fee, depending on your circumstance)
  5. Cash (at a retail partner)
