I just e-filed federal and Md. state returns as married filing separately and need to change it to married filing joint. How do I go about that?

If your return was accepted by the IRS, you'll have to amend your income tax return(s) to change your filing status.

However, the IRS has not finalized the 1040X amendment form. They're scheduled to issue that form around February 14, 2019. When they do issue the form, see How to amend (change or correct) a return you already filed.

TurboTax eFiled my Maryland return, but it did not include a Form 502CR (Tax credit for income taxes paid to another state), so I need to amend MD 502 return.   Can I amend immediately or do I need to wait to allow error to process and then file the amendment?
