Per the subject, can I use a single account and license to e-file my son's taxes on a separate return after I have filed mine? Also, will I be able to amend and efile a 1040X for my return if the answer to the first question is yes, and I prepare and e-file his return after doing mine?
Thanks.

When you have desktop download software you can prepare and e-file up to five federal returns and the state returns that go with them. There will be a $25 state e-file fee. Yes, you can prepare a return for your son using Home and Business.
You do not have to "sign in" to an account to use Home and Business. You download it to your own hard drive and you open the software program and use it from your own hard drive, just like you open other programs from your hard drive. To start a return for a family member go up to the top of the program's screen and click "File" and then click New Tax Return.
If you have to amend your own return, wait for the original return to be fully processed first. Then go to Federal>Other Tax Situations>Other Tax Forms>Amend a return
Be careful when filing other returns. Be sure to save frequently, go up to File-Save or Save As. Save each return with a name you can tell apart from another one. Especially if another return has the same name or initial. Like a father and son. Or if you have the same name the second return might overwrite the first one.
On Windows the returns are saved in your Documents in a Turbo Tax folder. The file name will end in .tax2025.
Can I install it on a second computer I own to do his return? We are in Texas so no state return..
Yes you can install the Desktop program on 5 computers you own. You will have to log into the same account to download it again. Even if you need the other OS like Mac or Windows.
You can install the Desktop program on 5 computers you own. See, https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/installing/help/can-i-install-turbotax-on-more-than-one-computer/0...
Thanks all. I called Intuit and spoke with them about this. I was told, yes, this is allowed. Up to 5 efiles and installation on my own computers is OK, even if filing for family members.
