I have not worked all year. I have only received Child support and Families first. However, I do have a 17 year old that I am trying to support. Do I get a refund?

I am not even sure if I am to file.  I just wondered what if anything I will get back.  My child has worked for about a month but not sure if that helps.

Without any earned income or taxes withheld, you cannot get anything back.

Your child may need to file his/her own tax retuirn, depending upon the amount made, and whether it is reported on a W-2 or 1099-MISC.

To put it another way: neither child support nor Families First income is taxable.  Therefore you've paid no taxes this year.  Therefore, there is nothing for the government to refund.
