I have my own IP PIN and claiming my parent as a dependent. My parent never opted or signed up for an IP PIN. Will this be rejected if I only put my IP PIN when I e-file?

Not quite sure if the likelihood will cause this issue with tax softwares such as TurboTax. Please share your experiences. Thank you so much!

It will not be rejected. You do not have to enter an IP PIN for someone who doesn't have one. The IRS knows who has an IP PIN and who doesn't. The fact that you have an IP PIN does not mean that your dependent has to have an IP PIN.

Thanks a lot for clarifying! My mom just decided to get an IP PIN for protection. I'm curious as to which section on the form does the dependent's IP PIN indicated once it's e-filed via TurboTax? I'm only seeing two sections here:

The dependent's IP PIN does not appear on the tax return form, but it is transmitted as part of the e-file. The boxes that you see on Form 1040 are for the primary taxpayer, and for the spouse on a joint return. You enter the dependent's IP PIN in TurboTax in the same place that you enter the taxpayer's IP PIN.
