I have heard lots of people say they have had to pay some tax back this year. How do i know I'm not one of those people who has to pay taxes back this year instead?

I did my taxes and got a good amount pending in refund this year. More than last year. Where would I find out if I need to pay back taxes and why? I have heard a lot of people have had to do that this year

They are talking about taxes paid now as a balance due for 2018....because they did not have enough withholding done during the year...meaning they have to pay now, for 2018, more than they ever had to before.

As long as you did not make a mistake in your 2018 tax file, then you don't have anything extra to pay...but a significantly higher refund this year is always suspicious if thousands more than last year.

Alwasy print out your tax forms and compare them to last year to see if you reproted everything properly...(as best you can.... since the forms changed so much it can be confusing)
