I have an IP PIN number provided by the IRS. Should I replace the 2016 E-filing PIN with the IP PIN number; or leave the E-filing PIN provided by the program?

Your E-file pin is different from your IP PIN. You will want to leave your E-file pin alone, and you will enter your IP PIN by going to:

  1. Click on the Federal tab (Personal using Home and Business)
  2. Click on Other Tax Situations
  3. Scroll down to Other Return Info
  4. On Identity Protection PIN, click the Start button
