,,,AND, as to the email referring to an employer you never worked for?
Every year there are hundreds of similar post....for other things, where the email was intended for some other TTX customer.....The reason it went to the wrong person, was that the other customer accidentally entered their wrong email address...usually mis-typed somehow, added extra character, inverted some character, etc., to one that just happened to match yours. So, it ended up going to you. If you get mor crazy emails, could be the same reason, and that other person hasn't figured it out yet and corrected it...yet.
You received an email from Marketing. Marketing does not really know if there is a W-2 ready for you. Ignore the email. Your employer(s) have until January 31 to issue W-2's. Wait for your employer to issue it.

Dang, I should have realized that was probably the case. I got a gmail account during the first few weeks they were available, and my address is just my initials and last name, so a ton a people with my last name and the same two initials mistakenly use it.
Thanks for the quick response.
It appears that many, many other people have gotten this error email, myself included, which has caused lots of anxiety over potential identity theft.

Other support thread:
I just spent an hour and a half on the phone with customer support, after having to find an alternative number to get around the new paywall they have. Seems like they are aware of the issue (despite what they told me on the phone) and have no plans to admit their mistake-- seems like they'd rather have their customers be super anxious and freeze their credit. They tried to get me to just call the IRS myself, but I pushed. On the phone, they confirmed it wasn't a phishing attempt and that 'no fraud' had been done to me, so my ticket was marked resolved. They refused to let me make a complaint myself or let me escalate it any further. Appears TurboTax has been sending these incorrect emails for about a month.
Really bad look for a company that leaked the entire US's information a few months ago. Would be a shame if someone told the press. Anyway, the customer support hotline that actually gets you to a human being is [phone number removed]. Corporate is [phone number removed].
Since they blocked out the number, eight eight eight seven seven seven three oh six six
