I have a payment plan set up with IRS. I’m waiting for the first invoice. With the new filing date extended to June 15 (for TX), when will the first invoice go out?

The IRS will send the information about Installment Plan as they process it, so if you already filed your 2020 return, they will set it up now.  With the extended deadline, if you want to change the first payment date, you can call the IRS as soon as you receive the first payment information and ask for extension of the payment.

You can pay IRS online at any time, except when their website is down for maintenance.

The easiest way to make payments is on the IRS website at Make a Payment. Make sure you are applying the payment to the correct year.

If you made full payment before filing the return, enter the payment in the Federal section under Deductions and Credits, Additional Payments under Estimated Tax Payments. Once you have entered all of your payments in the Federal section, then revisit the Form 2210.

In TurboTax Online:

  1. Go to Deductions & Credits
  2. Select Estimated Tax Payments
  3. Click Start or Revisit next to Federal estimated taxes for 2024
  4. Scroll down to Additional Payments
  5. Enter the Date Paid and Amount Paid
