I have a child in University who qualifies as a dependent, however, in order to qualify for in-state tuition next year I may not claim him. How do I remove him?

Be mindful that schools are cracking down on this kind of activity.

In the program, re-answer the interview questions. If the program insists the student is your dependent, you will need to click "Delete" (the trash car icon) next to the student's name in the My Info section.

(Click "My Info" located just above "Federal" on the left side bar.)

If you are not claiming the child, be aware that if the child does not supply more than half of their own support, they cannot claim themself either.

Student loans do count as supplied support, scholarships do not.
