I have a 1099-misc to file from paid leave Oregon. Do I have to upgrade to Do It Yourself Deluxe to file with TurboTax?

It is not self employment, I do not have a schedule C form.

It depends. You can choose to report the income directly without entering the 1099-MISC since it is not self employment. This action may allow your to continue without an upgrade. Keep the form in your file.

  • Paid Leave Oregon (PLO) benefits are reported on Form 1099-MISC (specifically Box 3 for "other income") because the Oregon Employment Department (OED) treats these payments as taxable income that is not considered traditional wages from an employer

You can view the information at the bottom of the page for free filing when you open the link: TurboTax Free Filing

Other Miscellaneous Income:

  1. Sign into your TurboTax Online account
  2. Go to Tax Home (left panel)  Wages and Income  section
  3. Scroll to  Less Common Income > Select  Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
  4. Select Other reportable Income > Enter a description (----) and the amount
