I have a 1099 misc for $15,828 listed under 1099 misc AND under working as a pet contractor for 2 months before going full time. Should it show up in both places?

Yes, it can show up in both places. Under the Other Common Income section and under your Self-Employed Income. However, the income will only show up once on your tax return. On your schedule C, then onto line 12 of your 1040.

If you entered under the self-employment section first then you will see it listed in the Other Common Income and it is linked with your schedule C. If you entered in Other Common Income section first, you would have to link it in the self-employed section. Don't enter in both places. Only once under Self-Employed income for best results.

Verify your entry on the 1040 line 12 by selecting Tax Tools, Tools, View tax Summary, then Preview my 1040. If you see an that the amount is doubled, delete one of the forms.
