I have a 1095-A for Sept - Dec 2016 ($316/mo tax credit, total $1264). I was enrolled but could not afford the monthly premiums and did not pay any. How do I show this?

What will happen in the Health Insurance section is you first advise if you had:

  1. insurance coverage all year;
  2. didn't have any; or
  3. you pick the month's you had

Lets say you go with #3:  The next page will have a check box per month and you select how many month's you were insured, lets assume all are check but the last four month, Sept- Dec.

The next page asks about availability and affordability, so you can click the check boxes that best represent your situation, you said you couldn't afford the premiums, you click the box that says "Plans in my area were not affordable."

The next page asks what month's were not affordable so you checkbox Sept -Dec in this example.

This section will determine if you pay a penalty for not having insurance, in this example, the penalty is waived.
