You must have answered one of the questions wrong for the 12 year old in the My Info section of the TurboTax online program.
It may be easier to just delete them as a dependent and then re-enter. Carefully review your answer to each question.
Thanks so much for the reply. I tried that, but it still only credits him for the $500. the AI message that generates says...
"Owen does not qualify for the Child Tax Credit because his Social Security number is not valid for employment. However, he does qualify for the $500 Other Dependent Credit."

Go back to the section where you entered the Social Security number an uncheck the box labeled "not valid for employment".
