I had to mail my South Carolina state return due to circumstances. How can I find out if they have received my return?

The sc tax website will only show if your refund has been processed. I need to confirm the documents being received.

Going forward---the way to know if a mailed tax return was received is to use a service with tracking such as certified mail so you will know the return was received.   It takes longer for a mailed return to be processed but you can track it on the state site:

Depending on how long ago you mailed it, it could be sitting in an unopened mailbag at the tax department. Check its website or call, but if in a mailbag, they won't know they got it. The worst-case scenario is that it got lost in the mail. Important documents should always be sent using a tracking service.
