I had a child that was born in the 2016 calendar year. Unfortunately I lost her the same day, can I claim on my return?

Sorry for your loss. 

Since your daughter was a live birth, she can be claimed, despite the short span of her life.  You will need a social security number to claim her.  

Also, you'll need to enter she lived with you all 12 months of the year (children who are born or died in the year are considered to have lived with the parent for the full year for tax consideration).
