I got married last year and had claimed my wife as a dependent before that. She is a stay-at-home mom. What is the best way to file this year? Together or separately?

If you are married and living together you can only file your tax return as either Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately.  You would want to file as MFJ even if one spouse has little or no income.  You receive the Highest Standard Deduction of $12,700 and you each receive a personal exemption of $4,050
